You want to nourish and trust your body and you don't have to do it alone.

Nutrition counseling can help you stop second-guessing your food choices & feel confident about trusting your body.

Hi! My name is Katherine

I'm a registered dietitian, intuitive eating counselor, certified eating disorder specialist, and food enthusiast (I admit, this one is a self-given title, but all the other ones have certificates).

When I was in middle school, my relationship with food started veering off course from 'normal' to 'not good'.

Learning how to calculate my 'ideal body weight' and realizing that mine wasn't 'ideal' sent me down a spiral of obsessing and stressing about food, exercise, and my body that lasted well beyond my adolescent years.

I used to think that the idea of eating for joy AND nourishment didn't have anything in common, and I couldn't have been more wrong.

I'm now a non-diet and weight-inclusive dietitian because I'm passionate about throwing out the 'shoulds' and 'should nots', the 'goods' and 'bads' of conventional nutrition advice and diet culture to focus on what nourishment looks like that actually fits into and enhances your life.

You don't have to choose between nourishing your body and a healthy relationship with food -

what if you could have both?

My Philosophy

I believe that there is more to health than the number on the scale.

I help you to approach health, well-being, and nutrition in a way that goes beyond the dietary guidelines,  challenges your perspectives on food, and helps you to eat without stressing over every decision.

I help you to learn to tune into your body and understand how to nourish yourself with respect for yourself and your body.

Courage

Taking steps to heal your relationship with food is an act of bravery. Courage enables us to tackle obstacles, to try new things, and to break down old beliefs about food and body to form new ones that support your growth.

I firmly believe that self-compassion is a vital tool for healing, especially when things get tough. Compassion lies at the heart of my approach, as I'm committed to understanding your experience and who you are to fully support you.

Authenticity

Authenticity allows us to pay attention to our experience and to make choices based on what is most important. This is the core of my philosophy, driving open conversations where you can comfortably share your stories, uncertainties and successes.

Curiousity

There is no how-to manual for the human experience, and your personal experience and journey is so unique. Embracing curiosity enables us to explore your experience without judgment, question preconceived notions about health and nutrition, and lay the foundation for a more positive relationship with food and body.

Check out some of fun facts about me

Grew up in AK

I grew up on an island in southeast Alaska that gets over 13 feet of rain a year. I still consider my xtratufs the most practical footwear for almost any occasion.

Where you can find me

Outside of work, I can be found bouncing between a variety of outdoor activities (mostly dodging mosquitos) including skiing, biking, running, hiking, and fishing. When the weather is bad, I can be found indoors cooking, crafting, and watching Steve Martin movies.

Sometimes a gardener

I’m an optimistic yet unsuccessful gardener, which means that I am doing a better job of nourishing the slugs and neighborhood moose than I am at reaping my own harvests.

My fav places to eat

If I’m not cooking, my favorite eateries in Anchorage include Serrano’s for tacos, Motley Moo and Wild Scoops for ice cream, Fire Island Bakery, and Palmeira.
